To Hate Our Enemies…

"When we hate our enemies, we are giving them power over us: power over our sleep, our appetites, our blood pressure, our health, and our happiness. Our enemies would dance with joy if only they knew how they were worrying us, lacerating us, and getting even with us! Our hate is not hurting them at all, but our hate is turning our own days and nights into turmoil." --Dale Carnegie

This is something I'm trying to keep in mind right now. I'm currently dealing with a situation where I've been misled and taken advantage of by someone I thought I could trust. It's hard not to want to take vengeance, but not only does Mr. Carnegie have a point - so does the book of Proverbs. Proverbs 25:21-22 says, “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For you will heap burning coals on his head, And the LORD will reward you.”

So I'm asking for God to give me wisdom in how to handle the situation - and also to help me forgive the one who has wronged me. It helps to know that, in the whole vast scheme of things, in the light of eternity, this life I live is nothing but a part-time temp job. And this action that has been taken against me is nothing but a part-time temp thing taking place during my part-time temp job in the light of eternity.

I know that none of this likely makes sense to any of you, as you have no idea what I'm referring to in my life... but hopefully you'll get something out of this for your own life and circumstances.
