Joni Tada recently used her blog to share the story behind Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem “I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day”. The poem was written by Longfellow after the loss of his wife in a fire and a severe injury to his son during the civil war. The 57-year-old widowed father of six children heard the Christmas bells and the singing of “peace on earth” but it troubled him. But by the end of the song he realized that peace was still possible through God. Read the entire story, or listen to the audio of Joni voicing the blog post here.
