Problematic Printer Predicament

£9.95 HP PrinterTwenty years ago, I figured I’d hardly ever use my computer. And since I don’t really care to play Solitaire, I didn’t buy one.

However, about ten years ago I did buy my first computer and I can’t see life without it now. I don’t play any Solitaire whatsoever though… I spend all of my time getting ready for my radio show; surfing websites getting email, illegally downloading TV theme songs, etc.

As you might imagine, my printer gets a lot of work every day. This morning, however, I noticed my printer starting to act up, so I called this small computer shop around the corner that I’ve done business with before and asked them if I could bring it in for them to take a look at it. I described the printer problems, and the guy said that it’d be best to try and fix it myself since it’d cost fifty bucks just for them to take a look at it. He told me that it probably just needed cleaning, and that instructions on how to do it would be located in my printer’s manual.

Think about that… the guy is actually turning away business. It would have been an easy fifty bucks for this guy.

I asked, “Hey, does your boss know that you’re turning away business like this?”

“Actually, it’s my boss’s idea,” he said. “We usually make more money on repairs if we let people try to fix things themselves first.”

My printer was on their counter ten minutes later.
