A Purple Heart earned during World War II will soon be returned to the recipient’s family in Missouri after it was sold for $4.99 at an Arizona Goodwill store. Laura Hardy says she was shopping at a Mesa, Arizona, Goodwill recently when her husband spotted the Purple Heart on display in the store‚Äôs jewelry section. Hardy returned home and posted the medal on her Facebook page, along with the name on the back of the medal, Eual H. Whiteman. The next morning, Hardy received a phone call from a Facebook group — Veteran Buddy Finder — that helps veterans find each other. The owners of the facebook page tracked down a relative of Mr. Whiteman and will be returning the medal.
