AUGUST 13, 2014…

Let’s Be Cops—What an idea. Two guys decide to be cops at a costume party and then people take them seriously, they decide to really impersonate police officers.  Thus, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Jake Johnson get a squad car and before you can say, “oh no,” are in trouble. Also in the cast is Nina Dobrey. “Let’s Be Cops” is rated R and is an adult movie. No rating.


AUGUST 15, 2014…

Dinosaur 13—A documentary that was popular at the Sundance Film Festival, it follows a ten-year fight over who actually owns dinosaur bones discovered during a dig. The government or the people who found the skeleton of a T-Rex. Directed by Todd Douglas Miller. “Dinosaur 13” is rated PG No rating.

Expendables 3—It just had to happen, the first two films gathered every action hero of the past 20-years or so and it worked.  With some humor and getting the bad guys. Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, Jason Statham, Terry Crewes, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas and just about anyone in Hollywood who can lift weights. The premise this time is finding Gibson, who has turned bad. “Expendables 3” is rated PG 13. Rating of 2 for fans of this genre.

The Giver–Adapted from the Newberry Award winning novel, “The Giver” by Lois Lowry stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep and Brenton Thwaites. In a future society, pain is gone and people have “sameness.”  Each generation, someone is selected to receive past memories in case of an important decision. Jonas (Thwaites) is selected, but he is unsure of his task and wants to leave. “The Giver” is rated PG 13. No rating.

Life After Beth—Just when you think you have heard it all, here comes a movie about a guy (Dane DeHaan) whose girlfriend (Aubrey Plaza) dies.  Just when sorrow hits him, she re-appears as a zombie. Guess who is coming to dinner??  Also in the cast is Anna Kendrick. “Life After Beth” is rated R and is an adult film. No rating.

Magic In The Moonlight—This is a Woody Allen film about a magician (Colin Firth) who is asked to check and see if a psychic (Emma Stone) is the real thing.  The story is set in the 1920’s, Europe, and Colin’s costume as a magician is off the beaten track. Of course, Colin and Emma don’t like each other at first, but then… Also in the cast are Simon McBurney, Jacki Weaver and Hamish Linklater.  “Magic In The Moonlight” is rated PG 13. Rating of 2 for Woody Allen fans.


AUGUST 22, 2014…

When Games Stand Tall stars Jim Caviezel (“Person of Interest”) as the coach of a in a true story of a football team that won for years and then lost a game. Based on a true story.

If I Stay  is from Gayle Forman’s YA novel about a young woman (Chloe Grace Moretz) who in comatose after a car crash, but really is around the people who knows.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is part actor action and part animation and stars Jessica Biel. Adapted from a graphic novel.

Love Is Strange (opening in select cities) stars John Lithgow and Alfred Molina as two guys who decide to get married.
