SEPTEMBER 12, 2014…

The Drop—Tom Hardy, in an adaptation from a Dennis Lehane  story, is a bartender who finds himself in trouble with the mob and with the police. This film is also the last one the late James Gandolfini made. “The Drop” is rated R. No rating.

Before I Go To Sleep—Nicole Kidman stars in this thrilling movie from a S. J. Watson novel. Nicole has amnesia and wakes up each day forgetting the previous day and her husband, Colin Firth. Shades of “500 First Dates.”  “Before I Go To Sleep” is rated PG 13. No rating.

No Good Deed—Well, never open your door to a stranger. Thus is the premise of this thriller starring Taraji P. Henson (“Person of Interest”) and Idris Elba (“Mandela.”) When someone says, “I have car trouble, can I use your phone” and it is raining outside. You make the phone call behind a locked door.  Now Taraji has problems, especially with children in the house. “No Good Deed” is rated PG 13. Rating of 2 for fans of this genre.

The Skeleton Twins—In this comedy/drama, Kristin Wiig helps her brother, Bill Hader, who has tried suicide. They really didn’t get along before, but now they bond. How can they help each other? Also in the cast is Luke Wilson. “The Skeleton Twins” is rated R. No rating.

*Search Party—This comedy starring T. J. Miller will open later in the year.

Dolphin Tale 2—Fans went wide-eyed over the true story of the dolphin, Winter, who , as a baby dolphin, lost her tale to a fisherman’s trap. She could barely swim. Taken to an aquarium, Winter was given help.  Enter a man without a leg, who helped shape a prosthesis for Winter, plus a special glue that attaches it to her. In “Dolphin 2,“ Winter has a small, rescued dolphin named Hope, to help care for and  now their story continues. The humans in the film are  Ashley Judd, Harry Connick, Jr. and Nathan Gamble. PG.


SEPTEMBER 15, 2014…

(special) Forrest Gump in IMAX—It is 20 years since this film opened and it is now appearing for a short time at IMAX theaters for the 20th anniversary. Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise and Robin Wright starred. Winner of six Oscars including Best Actor and Best Director.


SEPTEMBER 19, 2014…

The Maze Runner is adapted from a series of novels about young people who live in a society where the best win their way out of a maze. Stars Dylan O’Brien.

Hector And The Search For Happiness stars Simon Pegg as a man who travels to find out why people are happy.

A Walk Among The Tombstones is an action thriller starring Liam Neeson and Dan Stevens (from “Downton Abbey.”)

This Is Where I Leave You is a comedy/drama starring Tina Fey and Jason Bateman.

Tracks is based on a true Australian adventure starring Adam Driver and Mia Wasikowska.

Pride is based on a true event about helping a town in the British Isles that  is on strike against the government.

Tusk is an abduction thriller starring Justin Long and Haley Joel Osment.
