I’ve always understood that the sex of a baby is determined by the father – whether the egg gets an X or a Y chromosome from papa. But according to a recent study, a woman may be able to influence the sex of the child she conceives by what she eats. The study found that women who ate big breakfasts, particularly cereals, were more likely to have a son, while a diet low in calories, minerals and nutrients is more likely to produce a daughter. The percentage of babies that are girls has risen over the last four decades and this study would seem to explain it since the number of working moms has also risen as have the number of moms too busy for breakfast. They say this could offer a natural way for couples to select the gender of their children.
